… Gladly convert to Judaism …

I am fed up of all the confessional discrimination crap we are hammered with on daily basis.

And when we rely on our politicians to be gutsy on the electoral law that governs our national identity & future, when we rely on them to defy the status quo we live in, they come up with an absurdity like the Orthodox Gathering law.

After reading the new electoral law’s second point, I understood it provides the Lebanese Jewish community the freedom to elect any candidate regardless of his confession & religion.

We are all blessed to worship the same God. That God of all three monolithic religions, sub-religions, confessions and sub-confessions provided us the best gift of all, a gift I cherish more than anything, the gift of Freedom of Choice…

A freedom of choice that men of politics from my country, and men of my religion are always working to deprive me from, through rules and regulations that anchors even further the confessional discrimination & apartheid in our fragile yet precious socio-political scheme.

So if the Orthodox Gathering discriminatory Electoral Law passes, If i am forced by a man made law not to vote a good person regardless of his religion & confession, I will let go of the limitation these Political & Religious men have set on me as a Greek Orthodox Christian Citizen and request a humble conversion to Judaism.

I think the problem here is we’re thinking liberal in a society so confession-ally divided it gives confession a bad name.

As mentioned earlier, besides the whole Jewish issue which is as everything else another aberration is the “Mentally Challenged” laws, i think and truly believe that the only way out of it, is through it.

How much worst can it get, let’s embrace who our society really is, get real and work on getting out of this without risking killing each other at every corner.

May God Help this poor country and have mercy on It’s soul

    • Nad,

Let us embrace who our society really is: we never stop on a red light, so let us legalize that. no more red light. Sons of Zaieems do not need to pass any test selection to be admitted at universities and schools, let us legalize that. We never stand in line and prefer pushing at the counters rather than waiting our turn, so no more lines and ridiculous numbers… She is beautiful, so i have the right to screw her, let us legalize that. He is an orthodox, so why make him vote for a sunni? let us legalize that.

Frankly i do not see any liberalism in that, i see more of an abuse of human rights and lack of morality. Sadly also if the intention is killing each other at every corner is there, I believe this selection speeds things us. And since the outcome is the same in some’s views, why not credit the support of the effort that goes positively.
